Munster Junior Competitions

Our five junior teams have been in action over the last few weeks. Our U12 team lost 3/2 to Rushbrooke in the quarter final in what was a very close encounter. However this is a team for the future as three of the players have 2 more years U12. The team George Young ,Conan Kocher, Mia Gavin and Misha Fitzsimmons . Our U16 team nearly pulled off a major shock when they lost on a tie break in the third set of the deciding match to a highly fancied team from Rushbrooke in the semi final .Well done Luke Fitzsimmons , Cillian O Riordian, Sadbh McDermott and Eimear Kilroy. Our U18 A team have won 2 out 3 of their matches and they travel to St. Anns Waterford this Sunday in what will be the decider to see who will make the final on Sunday week. Fingers crossed that they can get at least a 3/2 victory. Best of luck to Edith Kearny ,Catriona Ni Riordian, Ronan Lanegan and Ian Wright.
However we have one team in the munster finals. Our U14 team had a 3/2 victory over Ballinlough A last Sunday week in Ennis in a match that went down to the wire. At 2/2 it was all up to Rhona Kearney in the girls singles to win her match and with a set each and 3/0 down in the third it looked like another Cork victory. However the 4th game lasted 15mins and could have gone either way but Rhona dug deep and took it and the next 5 games for a super win. Well done and best of luck in the final to Cian Humphrys ,Eunan Gavin, Rhona Kearney and Grace O Doherty. Come on Ennis !

In tense and exciting evening matches both pairings came from behind to clinch the trophy in 3 sets roared on by a noisy Ennis contingent of supporters who also outperformed the Cork crowd with great Gusto. Well done to Bill,David,Noel and Stephen. This is the 5th Munster Title that the club have won in consecutive Munster Competitions and is both a great reflection on all our teams who put in the effort to compete and on Ennis Tennis.
