Badminton Summer Camp

The Junior Badminton Committee is currently planning for our Badminton Summer Camp. The camp will run for one week, Monday August 10th to Friday August 14th. The camp will follow the same format as previous years with separate sessions being held each day to cater for different age groups. Children attend one session of approximately two hours duration daily. Last year the charge per child was €50 for club members. We hope to keep the price as close as possible to that figure, but that will depend on the numbers attending. Priority in terms of places, is given to members and if numbers allow there may be space for non-members at a moderately increased cost. Please email, if you have not received an email regarding the camp, in order to receive an application form along with additional information. Forms should be submitted by May 28th, along with a booking fee.

Spring League Update

Due to the poor weather in May the deadline for completion of Spring League matches is now June the 10th. The presentation of prizes will take place on the weekend of the 10th of July to coincide with Tennis Ireland National open days which take place on the middle weekend of Wimbledon. We plan to hold a Summer Barbeque and open day over that weekend.

West of Ireland Tennis Championships

The West of Ireland Tennis Championships took place over the weekend where three Ennis Tennis club players excelled. This prestigious competition attracts entries from all over Ireland and this year was no exception.
In the grade 3/4 singles with an entry of over 32 competitors, David Quinn made it all the way to the final but lost to the Enniskillen player who was stronger on the day.

His compatriot and new club captain, Bill Twomey also made it to a final, the grade 5/6 men's singles in which he narrowly lost. Bills' daughter Alice made it a family affair in going one better to win the grade 3/4 ladies singles title in impressive style. Alice, a student and member of the UCC tennis team put her hard training to work in winning the championship.

All in all a good start to the tennis year for Ennis Tennis Club!
